Hope to hear from some of my readers in the near future. I know people have been visiting by the counter, but comments have become sparse. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we were on our way to Cyprus for the break. The sun was much needed. It was never warmer than 75 degrees but the sun felt tremendous in the middle of winter. It is actually NOT that cold here in Scotland, and they do not get much snow. It sounds like winter is much worse in Chicago this year. We stayed just north of Paphos, which is a famous city that has seen the likes of the Romans, Greeks (Alexander the Great), the Byzantines, the Crusaders and the Persians. As an island it is literally at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and Europe and played a crucial role as a port. I know HISTORY GEEK. Seriously though the ruins on the island were awesome. One day we went to Kato Paphos which is a UNESCO site that was a roman and byzantine town and then on the last full day we went to Kourion which is one of the most complete Roman towns anywhere and has the original greek ampitheatre, I was in heaven, plus the views were magnificant. We also met a lot of very nice people on the trip. We were the only Americans anywhere, and everyone wanted to know why we were there. We got to be regulars at some of the coffee shops in town. We also spent a day in Nicosea(Lefkosos) which is the only walled city left in the world. (since Berlin fell) Turkey invaded in 1974 and still control a third of the island. We crossed over to the Turkish Cypriot side which was
very interesting to contrast. We also had an amazing meal on the Greek side. The best story of the trip however was probably the following: we rented a car and I have not driven since leaving the United States. We went out to the car and it was already dark. I went to the drivers side, because I was told they drove on our side of the road. To make a long story short they drive on the British side, since it was a fomer colony. It was dark, we did not know where our apartment was, and I was driving on the left hand side for the first time ever. I am still alive to talk about it. :) All in all, an amazing TRIP. Enjoy the pictures.Cheers

Sounds like an amazing vacation! I might have to try to get to Cypress now. I just got back from Rome, another place where it feels like you are just walking all over history. It was awesome. One of my roommates and I are trying to plan a weekend in Scotland at Valentine's Day, so it would be great to see you then if it works out. Say hello to Mrs. Brigham and Monique for me, and keep enjoying yourself. =)
I like the preppy sweater around the shoulders!
Luke had the curriculum fair at Sandburg yesterday!
Mr. Brigham!!
It looks like you and your family are having an incredible time. It must be really interesting to completely immerse yourself in another country. Plus, the fact that so many other awesome places are so close can only add to the experience.
Well, I just have to say that I really do miss your class. My brother is registering for his freshman classes this week, and I trying to convince him to take AP World. He's undecided, but I told him it would be great.
I hope you continue enjoying yourselves!!
Hey Brigham, Looks like you are having fun in Scotland. Sorry I haven't been in contact lately. A lot of things have been changing around here and been keeping me busy. I look forward to your next post.
Let's talk about that sweater around the shoulders. How typical 90's couple who plays tennis. Erlack. But, I forgive you because you ARE in Cyprus, you lucky duck. I need your opinion about study abroad. Where should I go?!?!? I wanted to hit up Europe and Asia, or should I go to Australia? You're my tour guide, so guide me! I can't decide where to go!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Brigham, just found out you have a blog. Hope you're having a good time!
I'm re-forming War Games club but you haven't gotten back to me... Hope you didn't fall in some big hole out there...
Brigham,
You need to update me on your adventures. Also, I want pictures of your long hair.
Thank you,
Lori
Hey Brigham,
Its been a while. I figured I'd post a comment anyway. How have things been? When do you get back to the states?
I hope all is well. Say "hi" to the family for me.
Erick
It would be awesome to spend luxury Cyprus holidays. Christmas is approaching and it's nice to spend it there.
